Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials (CEREM) is an initiative of Ministry of Higher Education. The Center was established in 2007 at College of Engineering - King Saud University, with complete funding and support of Ministry of Higher Education.

The mission of the Center is to promote excellence in materials research to benefit the society and global community. The Center commitment is to advance the state-of-the-art technologies, testing methodologies and performance assessment techniques of engineering materials in order to secure and strengthen the stature of the Kingdom in the field of materials .

The objectives of the center of excellence are:

To promote and initiate advanced research projects for strengthen its role in Engineering Materials. To create a multi-disciplinary environment for developing Novel Materials and their Processing Techniques.To educate and train young researchers to fulfill the University, Government and Industry needs. To support collaborative research between CEREM, Industry and research centers. To offer assistance to the Industrial Sector to solve their problems related to Engineering Materials.To encourage technology transfer to the Industry & Government.
