CEREM Overview
Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials (CEREM) is an initiative of Ministry of Higher Education. The Center was established in 2007 at College of Engineering-King Saud University, with complete funding and support of Ministry of Higher Education. It provides synergistic and interactive program in research collaboration, information dissemination and technology transfer, and launch new initiatives to address the changing needs of our society. The Center supports long-term materials research and development leading to potential breakthroughs in areas of advance Materials, Corrosion, Composites, Polymers and Biomaterials etc.

Key Components
 Identification of potential areas for    collaborative research.
 Exchange programs, seminars and    conferences.
 Sponsorship of professorial chairs, training    and support for researchers.
 Support and cooperation for initiatives to    broaden the awareness of science and    technology within the Kingdom of Saudi    Arabia.
 Scholarships for graduate studies as well as    co-op programs.
Ministry Perspectives
The scientific impact of nations is measured from their contribution to the science and technology which is the basis of improvement in economical, industrial and medical fields. The Ministry of Higher Education pursues the achievements of the Kingdom’s strategic plan which promotes the scientific research and technological advancements in order to improve the stature of the Kingdom’s economy. A launch of Center of Research Excellence program by the Ministry with complete funding and support is a major step forward in this direction. The program objectives are to encourage the Universities to promote and strengthen R&D activities in the Center and achieve the research excellence in all fields to play a leadership role both at National and International levels.
