The Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials is an initiative of Ministry of Higher Education. The mission of the center is to promote international excellence in materials science and engineering through research and educational programs. It emphasizes fundamental science and engineering issues that have benefits to the society and the global community.

The Center is established at College of Engineering, King Saud University. CEREM will explore metallic materials, Corrosion of metallic materials and Composite material methodologies. Additionally the center will also be working on the scientific basis of designing novel materials, as well as the techniques for producing them.
